Dr. Nicholas A. Skarich, DVM

Dr. Nick Skarich grew up in Clio, MI.  He is a graduate of Michigan State University’s College of Veterinary Medicine.  His areas of expertise include surgery, internal medicine (diseases), preventative medicine (helping pets stay healthy), and dermatology.

Dr. Skarich is one of those people who is a dog AND a cat person – he likes playing with them, cuddling them and being their doctor.  In addition to thoroughly loving dogs and cats, Dr. Skarich has special experience and training working with exotic pets (snakes, turtles and lizards) and pocket pets (rabbits, ferrets, rats, hamsters and guinea pigs).  He provides medical care to almost any species!

Dr. Skarich values expertise in surgery.  In addition to his professional training, he has particular experience in soft tissue surgery and performs a variety of surgeries to help pets.  In addition to spaying and neutering pets, he performs bladder surgeries, tumor removals, and many other procedures.  His modern surgical techniques have a long history of positive results and healthy post-operative healing.  As your local veterinarian, Dr. Skarich is available for any questions you may have about your pet’s surgery.

Dr. Skarich is dedicated to keeping pets healthy through preventative medicine.  Wellness care helps animals stay healthy and it catches concerns before they become more problematic.  Among other things, preventative medicine may include an annual physical from nose to tail, blood work for heartworm disease, parasite screen (stool sample) for intestinal worms, vaccines, and body weight management.

When he is not working as a veterinarian, Dr. Skarich enjoys playing ice hockey, and playing music on guitar, bass, and baritone saxophone.  He also likes fishing and playing Frisbee with his dogs.

Dr. Skarich and his wife, Corbin, have three children.  Their beloved family dog Lucy, a Yellow Labrador Retriever, enjoys being the only pet for a change.  Lucy loves playing catch, going for car rides and she is often seen making friends around the clinic.  In the past, they have shared their home with other dogs, cats, snakes, hedgehogs, rats, and fish.
